Is it weird if i use wrestling slang in real life when i'm dealing with non wrestling situatiions|||It's funny. When I'm talking about wrestling to my causal wrestling fans, I use slang and they have not clue what I'm talking about. I may have said promo a couple of times in non wrestling related situations, but that could be anything. I don't think I've ever dropped words like heel, face, shoot, or kayfabe in a conversation. But there might have been a few times where I had to stop myself. It would be kinda awkward when you say a wrestling term and somebody actually asks you what you mean. "WTF do you mean I'm a jobber?" Lol funny stuff.

Wresting Moves, Set up before or improvised?
When WWE wresters fight in a ring, do they just say 'bob wins, make the match about 8 mins long' or do they practice exactly what they will do in the ring before hand?|||all of it is set up and practiced thoroughly but every once in a while an accident happens and someone does get hurt|||I have no idea, i think they just set it up before and practice what they will do in the ring|||A lot of people don't believe this, but if you actually go to a fight, they're fighting for real. People think its fake but the guys/women are actually trying, its not rehearsed, but its legit.|||They practice the most important moments and also the rest of the match but some things are improvised otherwise it sometimes would look stupid.|||They practice their moves to make sure everything goes according to plan.|||Listen theres youtube videos on the match, each match is given a certain time period say 8-15 minutes. Theres always a predetermined winner and some of the ending parts are rehearsed however most of it is done through the ref indicating whether or not the match should end|||The first one, they are given the time and winner. From there it is up to the wrestlers involved, they may go out and improvise the whole thing, or they may talk about a few spots in the match before if they want to. They never rehearse the match beforehand, the only match where they did that was "Macho Man" Randy Savage vs. Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at Wrestlemania 3. There is no rehearsal. At most they will talk through the major things in the match they want to do and the ending.

How easy are the rules to learn in free style wresting?
It will take you a little while to learn them, but it's a very fun type of match. Putting someone into a gator roll from neutral, and watching as you get points for every time they hit their back is great.|||Easy.

Kane just had a 3 Disc DVD released last year, it was called "The Twisted, Disturbed life of Kane". But i think maybe Goldust (He is getting a book out later this year too) i heard Jerry the king lawler might get one, and maybe Big Show.|||Probably Kane he's yet to have his own movie, and he's retiring after Bragging Rights they usually give a superstar a movie when they retire or are leaving.

I want to be a MMA fighter. Is the combo ITF Taekwondo and Freestyle Wresting (like College wrestling) good?
Your three quarters there.You need to learn submissions and to defend against them.
If your truly serious about it then I suggest you train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (or Judo though BJJ is fine with the wrestling takedowns) or ditch the Freestyle wrestling and learn Submission Wrestling which is a mix of wrestling styles, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Judo and Sambo. If it weren't for Curt's "Rap is crap" gimmick, I'd say him. Ted DiBiase was smart enough to know that his career was maxed out and left the television scene when it was over. The other two lingered around like a Taco Bell fart until they were finally pushed away. I think all three were great entertainers, but Ted was the smart one and got out when it was time.|||Well both Rude and Henning had their career cut short due to serious injuries. my question is-- Is wresting real or drama/fake? i asked so much people some of them says it is fake others told me it's real. which one you think is true? will you help me out? thankssss alot|||The word fake is not a good one here. It's a legite entertainment industry with real people taking real bumps and getting real money. If you have never been to a show I highly recommend it. I have been to several and it is better live. All that said lets break down a few of the basics.
The corner posts that are covered are padded, the ring has padding (not much though) and there is a spring underneath it. There is a mic under the ring which is used to make u think they are hitting the ring really hard. Most of wrestling is like illusions. So if you like magic and soap operas you probably will get into it. Most of the blood you see coming from the stars themselves is from whats called bladding. And what looks like a super kick from the corner is really just a guy holding up his leg and the other one running into it. The chops on the side are not hard or as some would say they use an open fist instead of a closed fist. This lessons the impact. The lifts are a team effort. The slamming of the head ont he steps is the guy using his arm to protect his head. Basically what I'm saying is they are master illusionists/entertainers and are very phyically fit and they do get injured. It's not for everyone to get into. It's something your either good at or not. There is a lot of script writing involved and they do discuss who gets the belt or not. Sometimes the writing is just awful and I want to slam the guy who wrote it. But those body slams .... thats real. they take a lot of pain, but they also are trained on how to protect themselves because otherwise there would be more injuries than what they have. When I see them live I can see how they protect themselves...it's the camera angles on TV that make it where we can't see that. I enjoy it just because it's like an action packed soap opera for me. Even knowing how they do all they do it doesn't take away the excitement of seeing my fav guys every week. I like trying to figure out which way the story lines will go and betting my pals to see if I win or not. It's just fun to me and believe it or not it releaves a lot of my stress from classes and raising kids. So I guess my answer to your question is it's real...just understand how the game it played.|||It's drama/fake, but the injuries where superstars are required to get surgery are very much real. It's the greatest form of entertainment in the world, in my opinion.|||Its, a stage show its theater, you feel ever punch and ever powerbomb, just not as bad as its portraded you can find out the secrets to the trade and more here on WWE.com

There's only been a handful of guys in the WWE, during Kurt Angle's days, that had extensive freestyle wrestling experience. Of them, I think Brock Lesnar (an NCAA D1 heavyweight freestyle wrestling champ) was the most skilled.
That said, Brock's D1 championship in 2000 (he also placed second in 1999) pales in comparison to Kurt Angle's amateur accomplishments - Olympic gold medal, NCAA D1 champ, 3 time NCAA D1 All-American, USA Junior Freestyle champion, 2 time USA Senior Freestyle champion, and International Junior World Freestyle champion.
They even had some "friendly matches" and Kurt was able to get the better of Brock (and they were both able to get the better on Paul "Big Show" Wight).|||Ha-ha! Yeah, The Undertaker was the best amateur freestyle wrester, ever! I remember him pwning Michigan State in college wrestling cage matches!
The Undertaker wasn't EVER a freestyle wrestler - He attended Angelina College in Lufkin, TX on a Basketball Scholarship.

He will give Kurt Angle the best run of them all!!|||The Undertaker!!!|||undertaker|||Definitely Chris Benoit! Specifically their match at Wrestlemania 17 (Which was basically nothing but a freestyle mat match the entire match. If you haven't seen it watch it.), their 30 Minute Submission Match they had at Backlash in 2001 (which is in my top ten favorite matches of all time), and the WWE Championship they had against each other at the 2003 Royal Rumble (after the match they both got a standing ovation from everyone in the crowd which is a rarity in pro wrestling matches). In mostly all of their matches both of them relied on alot of freestyle wrestling moves to get the advantage over the other. Chris Benoit has been wrestling since he was 8 or 10 and knows very well how to freestyle wrestle. They even had some "friendly matches" and Kurt was able to get the better of Brock (and they were both able to get the better on Paul "Big Show" Wight).|||Ha-ha! Yeah, The Undertaker was the best amateur freestyle wrester, ever! I remember him pwning Michigan State in college wrestling cage matches!

He will give Kurt Angle the best run of them all!!|||The Undertaker!!!|||undertaker|||Definitely Chris Benoit! Specifically their match at Wrestlemania 17 (Which was basically nothing but a freestyle mat match the entire match. If you haven't seen it watch it.), their 30 Minute Submission Match they had at Backlash in 2001 (which is in my top ten favorite matches of all time), and the WWE Championship they had against each other at the 2003 Royal Rumble (after the match they both got a standing ovation from everyone in the crowd which is a rarity in pro wrestling matches). In mostly all of their matches both of them relied on alot of freestyle wrestling moves to get the advantage over the other. Chris Benoit has been wrestling since he was 8 or 10 and knows very well how to freestyle wrestle. What I do know is that 16th president Abraham Lincoln was indeed a professional wrestler for carnival shows. Whether or not you consider these crooked grass roots of American professional wrestling as being actual professional wrestling is beyond me, but the formula wasn't much different. Usually a carnival ring master would come to a town ahead of the carnival and find the biggest guy in town and pay him off to take a dive, in order to rob the townspeople of their wagered money spent backing the hometown hero.
According to online sources, Lucha became a regional phenomenon in the 1900's and later became widespread. I'm not sure how reputable some sources are on the subject, but looking at the modified rules of the wrestliing style, you'd have to think that American wrestling came first, but was it the very first? like in one of my other questions i mentioned my cuz wanted to do wrestling. well, i was wondering if there are any good moves for middle school wrestling she can do. or even some tips. she does know the full and half nelson, and had had them both used on her along with the sleeper hold by her friends dad(she almost passed out cuz she wouldn't give up). her heart has been set on doing wrestling since last year, and i really want her to do good. thanks 4 ur help.|||I assume that she wants to do amateur wrestling as part of a school team... not the "pro" stuff on TV like WWE.
To be honest, the best thing to do right now is to forget about holds and moves. She should start building up endurance by running, doing pushups, crunches, pullups, etc. Once she is on the wrestling team, she will learn all of the moves as part of practice. But practice is a really draining, difficult experience. The more in-shape she is now, the better she will be able to learn the moves during practice.|||as a person that posts here that actually wrestles (not on a trampoline or in a backyard)... here's some advice
#1 you can forget being good at the sleeper hold. wrestling is fake. you don't actually apply any pressure when doing the move.
#2 if someone is in middle school, there at least 6 years away from actually being able to train to be a wrestler. i'd suggest taking up high school wrestling when they get there. that helped me out on my mat skills.|||TELL HER TO JOIN THE WRESTLING TEAM AND THE COACH WILL TEACH HER.|||roll back then full nelson or head lock the opponent

It is truly the Greatest sport in the whole world !!! You are probely at the same age level that I was when I started. I want you to know that being a Wrestler takes a lot of hard work an sacerfice. It will demand much of you in every way. If you seriously chose to do it, i will be a life-style, not just an activity you do. It will become who you are...A Wrestler. You will never regrete it or wish you tried something eles. Anyone who wrestles should be very proud of themselves for been a Wrestler...exspecialy if you are a femaile.
OK...Hon, you need to do a LOT of push-ups %26amp; sit-ups every day. You need to do a ot of long distance running as well. You should do 3 sets of your maxium for your aily exercises. You should run at least every other day (4 or 5 times per week). Contact your Athletic Director at your School an see about when you may get into the weight room there to begin a weight training program...that would help as well. Maybe the Wrestling Coach at your Scool can help you with a weight training program. If you have weights at home, or siply would like some advise on weight training, please let me know so that I may help you. Plus, there are soe Great training videos on Wrestling skills that you can get online. Look for something called The Winning Edge video series. It is great for the beginner to intermedent level Wrestler. It would show you a lot of great moves you can practice with a friend.

Gain 20 or so more pounds and build up your muscles a bit so that you are a little stronger and your muscles get a bit heavier. Being able to move quicker couldn't hurt either. Wrestling can be hard on the body, cause you have to work on keeping up your strength and stamina...you think you're ready for that? Good luck with that.|||just stay dedicated even when time are tough.

I just decident to come to The UK Yahoo answers for a minute and it isnt popular|||One time British Wrestling was very interesting back in the day when we had the likes of Big Daddy, Fit Finlay and Rollerball Rocco slugging it out in the ring on ITV1's World of Sport. like when WCW,WWF and ECW were in they had incredible shows not they have terrible shows. like no more hardcore matches. alot of crappy storylines. and whats up with hell in a cell but they dont go to the top anymore. also bigger is not always better cause it gets boring now. anybody agree|||Vince has no need to put on a great show like he used to. Tna is not the threat wcw once was in the wwf days. That plus the factor of being careful not to injure the superstars is what has watered down wwe.|||here u go

3. WRITERS- holy crap this is the biggest problem of them all we need better storylines and better feuds so the fans can actually be interested in the show

BANNINGS- well now they dont go on top of cages or the cells b/c they dont want another person falling like mankind, nor do u see them using chairs or tables, concusions are a big problem now, espicially since beoit died, so they cant really have anyone be put in harms way, basically just plain matches or as simpe as can be in special matches.
5.THE WRESTLERS- the whole show is about them, in the 90's we had the best wrestlers in the worls, now not that many are left. i mean look we had, the rock, scsa,mankind, dx, at least 15 tag teams, the aliance, undertaker was scarier and performed better. now sure we have hhh hbk, taker, kane, and thats it, out of the original wwf, i mean he hardys arent even together, the superstars we once knew and loved have all aged, and pretty soon, all the present ones will be gone to, u cant be a wrestler forever, but the moments they all created will never be forgoten

Look it up on YouTube or it's website www.rohwrestling.com for some matches. You won't be disappointed.|||The biggest problem is the so called creative team. Its not the talent that is a problem. When Stephanie and the other team members consistantly have problems coming up with good ideas (or fire people because they can't think of a way to use them), it is their fault and no one elses. I think it has a lot to do with new talent not being able to fill the shoes of the top guys that are leaving/returning/getting old. Along with the fact they have new creative writers, they had much better storylines in the past.|||yeah alot of wrestlers getting suspended and released and good wrestlers gone rock goldberg stone cold nash hall hogan bret im sure theres many more|||the McMahon's are running the wwe more then they did before. before they used to be parts of the story lines. now the they make the storylines!|||HBK. he has no talent|||i agree. THey dont make great storylines anymore and that takes everything down a big notch.

More fans = bigger brand, and that will tip Mr. McMahon's hand, as long as the TNA owners doesn't succumb to his enterprising will.|||cena having the title for 2 years|||I think WWE is trying to be family friendly. And their product is really gone down hill as a result.

At my school there's tons of different sports but my favorite is girls' wresting, but my mom thinks im gonna get seriously hurt because im small. but im strong and can beat up a 7th grader!!|||Wrestling is a great sport, but don't approach it from the side of martial arts or being able to legally fight with another person. Wrestling is the fastest growing sport today and is very underrepresented by females. I am going to guess that you aren't yet in 7th grade from your last statement. If your mom has a concern about you getting hurt, ask her to talk to the wrestling coach. This is going to help much more than you trying to convince your mom that you won't. One of the first things that are taught are how to protect yourself as it doesn't help the coaches if they have put alot of training time into you and you can't wrestle because you are injured.
Don't try to learn martial arts and use that knowledge in wrestling as it will not transfer very well. The only are of martial arts that will begin to transfer is Judo, and for this to happen, you already have to b proficient. -- speed
-- balance
-- finesse
-- technique
-- "quick thinking"
In this sport you are in complete control of how far you can go as you will only get as good as you want to. The more work you put in, the better you will get.
My daughter has been a wrestler for four years now and has wrestled at the Women's Junior Nationals in Fargo, ND. For female's it is much easier to get recognized and if you eventually decide that you would like to do this at the collegiate level, there is scholarship money available.

Its good for many reasons, for one its a combat sport!, where you can leagally fight ( not punch or kick) but fight a person, now how many times have you ever wanted to be in a real fight? No matter what anyone tells you, you can survive the wrestling practices as it only makes you better, and the practices are more entertaining then other sports' practices, more better and fun.
Anyways, what you can tell you mom about yourself getting hurt, you dont need to worry much! , because you'll be wrestling people the same weight as you or weightclass which means less chance of getting hurt if you know what your doing. Even if somehow you do get hurt in some way, at least you will have pride for your injury.
For now , what you can do is talk to the wrestling coaches, get yourself signed up, and watch school wrestling videos on youtube and such to get you started on the rules and things. The best advice i can give to you is watch martial art videos on youtube on how to counter certain grapples. Because martials art teaches you how to reverse everyday normal moves and grapples, and wrestling is considered normal and basic in terms of fighting. Reversing in wrestling is probably more important then 'attacking' the opponent in most cases for a few reasons, one basically is because after a nice reverse, you can do a nice attack to your opponent at same time.

Donna Christianello (I loved her when I was a kid), Susan Green, Susan Sexton, Candi Devine, Judy Martin, Madusa Micelli (Alundra Blayze), Sherri Martel, Wendi Richter, Jackie Moore, on up to my favorites today, Gail Kim, Victoria, Sarah Del Rey, MsChif, Cheerleader Melissa, The Dark Angel Sarah Stock, and just about every female luchador in CMLL. Every one of them very talented and quite skilled in the ring.|||Ok, the WWE isn't the only company you guys need to pick from...

The Knockout Division must be the youngest established women's division but it is now led by one of the most talented Divas still wrestling, Victoria, the oldest veteran to still be wrestling. With that being said, the knockout division is hosting some of the raw talent of tomorrow. But, Chyna was my favourite diva back then, my favourite in the WWE today is Melina, in TNA, Tara and the old days Chyna set the standard for women, I wouldn't be surprised if Vince Russo (TNA Creative Team) tried to hire Chyna.|||Yes, Chyna. Chyna revolutionized the women's division in the WWE. She began her career wrestling men, becoming the first and only woman in history to hold the Intercontinental Championship. Her matches were good and credible. She is a pioneer and has my full respect. One day I hope WWE understands that her accomplishments helped pave the way for all the current and past divas, and I hope they induct her into the Hall of Fame. Bottoms up to the Ninth Wonder of the World!|||in the WWE, there was a diva named Trish Stratus whom i respect for her wrestling skills, she was a wwe divas 7 times a feat never achieved by anyone else, she has one the always prestigious diva of the deacade award, she has been on the WWE magazine cover 4 times and is known as one of the greatest divas in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment.|||well the looks are important but they're not THAT important. WWE is filling up with eyecandies who can't wrrestler that much is very annoying. Is it real blood when people wrestle or fake cause people say that wresting is FAKE!?
is it? or not?|||Generally it is REAL... the guys use razor blades to cut themselves. Any wound to the head will generate alot of blood making to look much worse than it actually is. Sometimes it is legit from a chair shot, or a hard bump that didn't go right. Wrestling is "fake" in that the endings are scripted, and the moves/match are basicly a "dance" that the wrestlers sell as real. However, make no mistake, some stuff there is just no faking... the bumps are real, and quite dangerous. Those guys are VERY sore after the matches, and alot of times the "blade jobs" require stitches. More often than not the blood is planned and the preformer uses a razor blade to draw blood.|||Its real blood their storyline is just Fake but the fight is real.......|||real blood
Most pf the time they will cut themselves a lilbit and smear the blood around|||there blading themselve to bleed|||The blood is real, that part is not fake|||its a mix also the fake thing is a mix. Most matches are fake but i know at least in WWE some matches are real and they let the wrestlers go at each other. If you guys saw the Regal HHH first blood match a month or two ago HHH messed up and it was really obvious when he put the fake blood on Regal. It took him 2 long and the camera completely caught him put his thumb on Regals head and twist. So it depends if u watch closely or have DVR or Tivo u will know when its real blood and when its a real match|||The blood is the real part of the violence you see in pro-wrestling. You know those glove or bandage things they sometimes wear on their hands? They hide blades in there and that's what they use to cut eithor themselves or their opponent.|||Its both really. The real guys have scarred forehead like Jerry Lawler, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Abdullah the Butcher, Sabu. Fake guys do not have any scar tissue at all and use blood packs hidden somewhere that would include people like Hogan.|||DawgPound hit it on the head, and so far has the BEST answer. the only thing to add is that wrestlers also always cut across the head rather than up and down, and usually take an asperine or two before the matches as it slightly thins the blood which allows you to bleed more.|||real blood they blade themselves|||most of the time fake but if there is accidents its real

If you guys saw the Regal HHH first blood match a month or two ago HHH messed up and it was really obvious when he put the fake blood on Regal. It took him 2 long and the camera completely caught him put his thumb on Regals head and twist. So it depends if u watch closely or have DVR or Tivo u will know when its real blood and when its a real match|||The blood is the real part of the violence you see in pro-wrestling. You know those glove or bandage things they sometimes wear on their hands? They hide blades in there and that's what they use to cut eithor themselves or their opponent.|||Its both really. The real guys have scarred forehead like Jerry Lawler, Dusty Rhodes, Ric Flair, Abdullah the Butcher, Sabu. Her face is her best feature all in all, it's very beautiful and sensitive. I also like how she doesn't have to puke herself like the other divas just to maintain her weight, I don't want a woman to be too thin, I love Mickie's thick hips.
2. Melina
I love Melina, because her whole body is great. She's fit and very pretty. Her hair and face is not her best feature like Mickie James. Melina's face is unique though, it shows great features, like her sparkling eyes and her hair is very nice too. But what highlights her is basically her body. Melina has the perfect body for any woman. Her breasts are large, her legs are not too thick, not too thin, her hips are perfect size, and she looks very fit.

Many don't like Leyla, but I love her! Her body is just as truly amazing as is Melina's. Her face is so beautiful and her smile can make you cry. Her body is so beautiful, especially her legs. They're the perfect legs for any woman. believe it or not i was two when i first started watching it my sister was watching it and then from there i started watching it with her|||i was 6 and i was flicking through channels when i seen smackdown and started watching it and then from there i discovered raw in 2006 i discovered ECW and i have watched WWE since my 1st smackdown where the rock was on it|||I was 2 yrs old. My brother and I watched it all the time. And, I was stuck on Wrestling ever since. We still watch Wrestling to this day.

I just started watching it and liked it since then. I been watchin it around '92 since 5 years old. so yeah about 16 years I been watching it, but lately wrestling is soap operas now =/|||my sister was watching it and i started to like it|||i was 6 and ma cousins plyed just bring it

so i went to my friends house.it was pouring. so i asked my friends dad if he would walk me home. He said in 10 min. b/c he was watchin raw is war. so i asked him what he was watchin n he said wrestling. So i watched it with im and i didnt come home till 2 in the morning because i ensisted that i would stay and watch wrestling videos with him. and im still watching it 10 years now.|||When I played WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2007. That is how I got to like Triple H too.
