Is wresting from America or Mexico?

I'm talking about the fake wrestling competition on TV!

did it started in Mexico or did Mexicans copied from America?|||I don't know if either really holds the true origin of professional of wrestling. What I do know is that 16th president Abraham Lincoln was indeed a professional wrestler for carnival shows. Whether or not you consider these crooked grass roots of American professional wrestling as being actual professional wrestling is beyond me, but the formula wasn't much different. Usually a carnival ring master would come to a town ahead of the carnival and find the biggest guy in town and pay him off to take a dive, in order to rob the townspeople of their wagered money spent backing the hometown hero.

According to online sources, Lucha became a regional phenomenon in the 1900's and later became widespread. I'm not sure how reputable some sources are on the subject, but looking at the modified rules of the wrestliing style, you'd have to think that American wrestling came first, but was it the very first? Hard to say.|||silence lib|||I'm pretty sure america but I don't know about old school puro or lucha so I could be wrong.|||It started in Egypt|||If your talking about fake wrestling as in WWE. I would say America as they would have had the funding, tv, radio, newspapers to fuel the public into getting into it, as Mexico would not have as much.|||ll.ll say America|||Pro wrestling as it's called started in carnivals. However amateur wrestling started in ancient rome or Greece depending on who you ask.|||America|||Its started in Utopia!|||It started in the early 1900's with people like Farmer Burns and Strangler Lewis as the main draws. |||Pro wrestling started here in the U.S. as a sideshow performance of a traveling carnival.

This is also where the word "Mark" originated as well.
